UP STF Busts Gang of Computer Engineer Who Defrauded SGPGI Neurologist Dr. Ruchika of Rs 2.8 Crore

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested six computer engineer in Lucknow for defrauding Dr. Ruchika Tandon, a neurologist at SGPGIMS, of Rs 2.8 crore. The scammer posed as government official, falsely accused her of money laundering, and tricked her into revealing sensitive banking detail. Authorities seized Rs 30 lakh, mobile phone, and banking kit during the arrest.

Iranian Hacker Set Up New Network to Target U.S. Political Campaign

Cybersecurity researcher at Recorded Future Insikt Group uncovered new infrastructure by Iranian threat group GreenCharlie, linked to APT42 and others. Using dynamic DNS provider, the group registered phishing domain to target U.S. political campaign. The malware, including POWERSTAR and GORBLE, is deployed through phishing and social engineering. Communication with Iran-based IP and usage of Proton VPN was also noted.
